Between the walls of dreams and the light of day

I don’t pretend to understand dreams. I only subscribe to the “interpretation of dreams” to a very certain extent. But this morning I woke up thinking about the dream I struggled through the night before.

It was about an airport that was heavily guarded by an overly armed police force. The building was surrounded by a wall reminiscent of a castle: impressive and repressive at the same time. I got to the airport after being trapped in a building by a friend/lover/male companion. He didn’t want to leave and I did.

I woke up with this song in my head.

Don’t tell me this is your last chance to change
cause if you do, then you would be telling a lie but

I warned you
what could happen if you should decide
to live your life from 9 to 5
and I mourn you
for the detail that is left unsaid
is a reminder of the time you bled
return to days when you knew you still felt alive

reveal the way you felt when
you could look inside

they sold you
everything you need to fix you up
and you feel good now but you can’t wake up
they found a way to reassure you

that everything would be okay (screaming)

reach out today now I emplore you to remember who you are
return to days when you knew
you still you felt alive
reveal the way you felt when
you could look inside

so you felt it, but you don’t know, why you can’t explain at all
why you felt it
cause you don’t know, no you don’t know

break the walls between building atrophy
causing all your problems to recede
break the walls between
break the walls between
causing all your pain
causing all your pain
you’ll never learn
return to days when you knew you still felt alive
reveal the way you felt when you could look inside

Take Back
The beat in your heart
Why Fight
When you can’t be bought

    Hmm…

I’m not sure whether the dream has reminded you of the song or the song inspired the dream, but the two together would seem to be an indication that you feel trapped within yourself and are now looking inward to figure out how to break free.

Isn’t it weird when you wake up with a song in your head? It happens to me once a week or so but instead of getting good meaningful songs I get random showtunes, disney songs, or even TV theme songs. So bizzare.

I’ve given up on trying to figure out dreams. I know when I’m having stress dreams, I’m happy when I have (good) sex dreams, and the rest I file away in the ol noggin or tell my friends so they can tell me how weird I am. Or laugh.

    Like how helpful I am?

I have the weirdest dreams. I recommend dreammoods.com. It’s a real help for those dreams that you can’t make heads or tails of.

I always seem to wake up with a song going on in my mind. It’s so bizarre but I’m glad to know I’m not the only one that happens to. 🙂

  5. Usually when I wake up, I’m thinking about getting back to sleep, hence I very rarely if not never remember my dreams. That’s a shame because I used to have kickass dreams when I was younger and less in need of sleep. Hum, not that kickass when I think of it… >__>

I’m not a huge fan of that song btw, try banana phone, that’s a good song to wake up with…

Dreams are so hard to understand… when I wake up with a song in my head it’s usually one I heard the day before.
